September 8th – Muskies vs. JRC

Game Day #2 – Muskies (2) – JRC (3)

The Muskies showed how they can play this season in this game. They had consistent sustained pressure throughout the game but ran into a brick wall that was Josh Branton.

In the 1st period the Muskies got a goal from Assistant Captain Joaquin Gonzalez (1st) with the assists going to Owen Fitzgerald (1st) & Nathan Taylor (2nd)

In the 2nd period the Muskies were all over the JRC, the shots showed 10-8 in favor of the JRC but thanks to the JRC D-Core the shot total was cut in half. They are going to be black & blue after the number of shots they blocked that period. There was a frantic stretch for just over 2 minutes where the JRC blocked 4 consecutive shots to keep the score 2-1 JRC heading into the 3rd period.

In the 3rd period Rookie Ajay Rai scored to tie the game 2-2. This was his 1st goal of the season and 1st in the OJHL. Assists on the play went to Simon Wang (His 1st OJHL point) & Nick Galeazza (His 1st point of the season) The Muskies battled and gave the JRC everything they could handle at the end. However the wall that was Josh Branton stood tall. At the end of the game the camera zoomed in on Josh & you could see the relief and exhaustion. The pressure the Muskies was putting on was intense, cross bar, post, tips just high & wide. All the right pieces were there.
